Food was really nice and good size portions (of which unlimited veg allowed as well). There was a modest range of drinks on tap as well.Staff were friendly and helpful and gave the usual expected levels of service.Whether or not I just arrived on a quiet night, but there were not many people here and the atmosphere was very low as there was a global silence in the whole place (except for my family and friends).That said, food was great, staff nice and a pub almost to ourselves. They do roast dinners here really well and overall do recommend a visit to this carvery pub.

Polite staff...nothing too much trouble.Our chips were not very hot. Returned them & had fresh ones cooked for us.Recommended

Love this place. Fresh baked bread that is absolutely perfect. Meat is delicious and thus the whole sandwich is amazing. Staff is friendly and it has a good atmosphere.

I had initially tried Meat and Bread years ago in Vancouver, and after our first visit we religiously stopped by every time we got the chance. Since adulting and covid we haven’t had the chance to make it down to Vancouver let alone Calgary, but this recent family trip gave me my opening and I was hellbent on making everyone check out of our hotels later than usual to make this my first stop of the day. At 11AM on a Friday, I was circling their shop for a good 15 minutes before I finally walked through those doors. The slab of porchetta on the counter immediately caught my eyes, and I was beyond elated. We opted for the classic Porchetta and the Meatball,both sitting at $13.50 each. Crispy pig skin sprinkled onto juicy pieces of roasted pork, sandwiched between some immaculate pieces of bread. I didn’t try the meatball but both parties enjoyed it.Was it as good as I remember? Absolutely. Am I going to make my way over here any chance I get? Definitely. I did forget to get some sauces to go which was a downer but learning from my mistakes for a later visit!

Poor food, the roast potatoes looked and tasted like they’d been cooked 2 days earlier and reheated. No Yorkshire puddings, the veg was average at best although the parsnips and meat we quite nice but you hardly got any meat. The queue for drinks was about 20 minutes to 1/2 hour. The staff were friendly and helpful but I feel the place was understaffed for a Friday teatime. 4 of us had the carvery and one of us had a meal off the menu which was good and arrived promptly. I was disappointed as I had heard good things about the venue as I hadn’t visited before. Unfortunately this has put me off returning.

Absolutely delicious. I work pretty close to this location for the past 2 years and never got a chance to try it out until recently. Most of the time I would see the line out the door and would hesitate to wait. However this time I did wait and the line moves nice and quick. They had about 6 or 7 sandwiches to choose from, soup (always tomato), chips and drinks. I opted for the Buffalo chicken and the soup. Both to die for. The Buffalo chicken had coleslaw topping that was nice and creamy and the added dill to it just made the flavours pop. The bun was nice and soft on the inside and crunch on the outside. Each bite was full of flavour and texture. The soup....it was so good. Can't wait to go again for lunch, might try a different sandwich or stick to the same. Definitely recommended as the service is quick and friendly and the food is high quality and delicious. !

The porchetta sandwich is a hit. Crispy & juicy roasted pork belly goes so well with the pesto sauce. Simply good. It's always busy during lunch time. Wish they could open to 5.

First off, I love the name of this place! Meat & Bread. No BS just direct and straight to the point. The sandwiches here are fantastic!! The corn beef sandwich was definitely amazing and for anybody who wants a simple and yet delicious sandwich this is the place to be. The staff is friendly and service is quick. Amazing food found in downtown Calgary! Highly recommended!!

Drooped my daughter at the canons leisure and wanted a coffee but it was around 10:50 am. I asked if I was too late for breakfast but the gentleman at the door said its ok for me to have breakfast.There were sausages and I asked what meat is that. Unfortunately I don't eat pork and the lady chef asked me if she can get me some veg sausages. It was very kind of her , as it was near closing time for breakfast and she did not have to do that for me. But I had a great experience and thanks to the lady chef for taking care of me. Food was nice and atmosphere was relaxing.Well done to the team!Jas

Great food. Good service. Good comes out fast. I wished I had more time in the city so that I can try out more from their menu.
